A Message of Encouragement

I don’t know about you, but everything has been feeling super heavy… and it just keeps getting worse. Much like Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole into a world of the unknown, I find myself wandering through a strange reality and navigating a place of complete absurdness.

Of course yesterday was a heavy day in recognition of the terrorist attacks that happened on 9/11, as well as the attacks in Benghazi.

With all the things currently happening in the world, I’ve been finding it difficult to keep up with what’s become exhausting and trying not to let it squash my creative soul.

I’ve not felt like reading, baking cookies, or making any cards.

And as summer comes to an end, I’m already starting to miss the friendship chatter by the pool and feeling increasingly uninspired.

I wasn’t even up to finding a photo for this post, until I came across this beautiful one of the clouds hovering over the ocean. I was trying to remember when and where I shot it. Still can’t place it– oh well.

I was actually hoping to do a 30-days of inspiration blogging challenge for this month of September. That didn’t happen. Maybe you will see the challenge another time.

That said, difficult is not impossible.

What I have been doing recently is channeling that heavy energy into other creative endeavors, particularly on the writing front. Which is sort of taking on a mind of its own as I move some substantial ideas into a deeper realm of possibilities. Which is different than painting. Different than acting, writing music, or dancing. Instead I’m tapping into places I have yet not explored. In what’s becoming characterization for my own writing piece.

Which is a weird feeling.

It’s vulnerable. It’s thoughtful. Time-consuming. It’s dark.

Yet healing and rewarding at the same time.

With today being the National Day of Encouragement, dedicated to uplifting those around us and making a positive impact, I wanted to share this post of where I’m at.

I also want to share an old, nostalgic, familiar song with you. One that got me out a bit from the depths I’ve been roaming around and to help balance out this creative venture I’m on (at least enough to write this post).

Here’s the lyrics to the song Lovely Day by Out of Eden, which has an uplifting melody that speaks to troubles and hope.

I hope you find it to be a delightful glimpse of encouragement amongst the heaviest and darkest of clouds.

Lovely Day

Song by Out of Eden (original by Bill Withers)
