Happy 1st Day of Spring 2022!

Spring is such a lovely change in seasons. Like January, it’s a time for new beginnings but in a more celebratory sense.

Weather becomes more temperate, the days longer. The birds start singing.

I’ve always felt like spring brings on this renewed spirit, a sense of calm and peace, and a refreshing outlook that becomes less inward in the reflective sense and more, okay, I’m ready to stop hibernating and begin sitting on the porch, chat with friends, people watch, and enjoy sipping a nice, large glass of summer sweet iced tea.

As we make that transition into summer, here are the things I’m looking forward to.

Tea

Speaking of tea, lately I’ve been into having hot tea made with vanilla almond milk and a dollop of whipped cream. You may have seen my recent post Winter Wonderland Creamy Peppermint Tea, and now I’m trying the method with other teas.

Steven Smith Teamaker has a lovely variety of teas which I was recently introduced to. Black Lavender and Lord Bergamot are next on my list. I’ve also joined in on a tasting 101 class which I think will be fun to learn about different types of teas.

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.

– C.S. Lewis

I’m also excited to try teas from Adagio Teas. Life’s Library Book Club is now coming to a close. It’s been a lovely couple of years reading books together and as part of our tea fun, I’m delighted to taste the The Life’s Library Tea Time Blend created for our community.

In honor of 3 wonderful years of Life’s Library, the Tea Time blend draws inspiration from our Community Picks. With Raspberry Green (inspired by Howl’s Moving Castle), White Pear (inspired by Their Eyes Were Watching God), and Foxtrot (inspired by The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet), each cup will bring with it memories of the books we’ve read together.

It’s also a ChariTEA in which a percentage will go to support Partners in Health.

Paying attention to the big structural challenges of poverty really matters because we only address the injustices we see.

Spring Reads

As far as books, I’m still working my way through The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, which has been fun so far.

Here are the some magazines and books I’ll be diving into soon.

Snacks

Soft, chewy, tasty caramels.

McCreas Candies Flavor Family Caramels, oh boy are they good!

Welcome to my pantry…

Spicy Peppers

The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel.

I love these jars of Mezzetta Garlic and Dill Peperonchini.

“We took our classic Greek peperoncini – sourced from the sun-drenched pepper farms in the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece – and added fresh garlic and dill for a little extra zing.

Makes my mouth water just thinking about them. Not many stores carry this particular kind, so when I see them I always grab many jars just in case.

Spring scarves

I love scarves. I find them to be so classy. A nice touch to any outfit.

Anise Cutout Cookies

Treats & Relaxation

A perfect spring day complete with Anise Cutout Cookies and a lit candle.

The candle I just got is this Kalahari Watermelon coconut wax blend by Voluspa. Sweet and soft, but not over powering and it’s super pretty when lit in its delicate peach-colored glass.

What a relaxing way to unwind!

I suppose with that, what I’ll really be enjoying this spring is self-care.

How about you, what are you looking forward to this spring?
