If Bread Could Rise to the Occasion by Paige Shelton
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This book was alright. I think those deeply invested in the series may really enjoy it. For me, it was full of great ideas but it fell somewhat flat. Parts of it, such as the main storyline and bread notables were certainly intriguing, but then I’d find myself wanting to hurry it along.
Overall, I just had a hard time keeping my attention sustained consistently. Some scenes for me were just overly detailed in a time-stretched type of way. I suppose it was that it took too much of a slow pace to get to the highlights; however, when it did move along, I really enjoyed it.
I will be looking forward to trying another one by this author though because the substance I was looking for is definitely there so I’d be interested in seeing how the other books’ writing style delivers for my taste.
