Why I Write

Writing is one component of my website that I’ve really come to embrace since starting out this journey 5 years ago. I find it more and more enjoyable, relaxing, cathartic, expressive, a way to connect, and stirring to my creative thought in a different way than other media.

Plus it’s fun!

As my byline states, “I’m a recipe developer, book reviewer, and artist. I love coffee, gardening, hiking, reading, crafting, baking, and photographing my journey along the way. Expect delicious recipes both traditional and new, book reviews of all sorts of genres, a variety of creative expression, life musings, and much more!” That said, the writing aspect is both rewarding but also very challenging for me. Whether getting my message to say what I want it to say, without being too redundant or rambling, perhaps oversimplified or too pretentious, yet also engaging and descriptive enough in details to give it some direction and personality.

I’ve taken up some inspirational writing projects in the past few years which have helped me hone in on my craft. Ranges from slowing my thoughts down by being more deliberate in careful, cursive calligraphy, continuing to complete book reviews and being a part of book clubs, reading writing improvement books, attending writing and authorship workshops, and embarking on a little pet project I’ve been working on for the past severals months.

That said, I’ve already revised my short story from the earlier writing challenge, titled Lost Treasure. I just wasn’t completely happy with it when I reread it the next day, so another good read through helped to polish it up some more.

These daily challenges are also helping me to refine my writing ideas and writing process, and I’m grateful for our WordPress Community.

How about you, why do you write? Let me know in the comments below!
